Aim of tool/ Brief overall description
To understand the value of the ABCD-crown as a communication instrument in how to increase intercultural communication and intercultural classroom education.
For the didactic elaboration of intercultural classroom education the importance of the following two pairs of concepts need to be understood: identity-imago and dialogue-conflict.

Read the information concerning ‘the ABCD crown, the value of

  • Autobiography, getting to know each other’s narratives
  • Biography, how do we see each other related to our environment
  • Conflicts, how do we deal with conflict in a constructive way
  • Dialogue, how do we enhance our level of dialoguing

 

In dealing with multicultural aspects in the environment.

  • Step 1:
    Bring in a case about a multicultural dilemma.
    Individual task: What is the core problem and give arguments.
  • Step 2
    Task for small groups: Interact about what is the core problem. Use your own arguments.
  • Step 3:
    Task for small groups: Exchange the possibilities of the ABCD instrument in dealing with multicultural issues.
    Find out what phase of the ABCD crown you were interacting, in dealing with the core problem.
    How can you use the other phases of the ABCD crown in
    dealing with the problems of this case
  • Step 4:
    The whole group Introduce the theory of the U model and of the appreciative inquiry.
  • Step 5:
    The whole group: Exchange in ‘what is the value of the ABCD crown in intercultural education?’
    Use of ‘Appreciative inquiry’ dialogue model
